Karen Williams, FNP, has been a nurse for the past 20 years. She has practiced as a family nurse practitioner in Boone for the past 6 years. She appreciates the opportunity to provide care to families across the generations. She enjoys getting to know the patient's family and feels this helps provide more holistic care. Her nursing background includes family practice, extensive surgical experience and emergency care.

Karen grew up in Cornelius, NC and moved to Boone to attend Appalachian State University, majoring in History and Anthropology. She worked as a social worker for several years prior to returning to school for nursing. She holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Nursing from Western Carolina University.

She is married and raised her daughter, Edie, in Boone. She is an avid hiker, which makes Boone a perfect place to call home. She also enjoys sailing and playing music with her husband, Ben.
